Rationale for this international conference
This event will take place in the context of the project ‘Integrating Do no Harm and Transitional Justice Approaches in the Land Restitution Process’, the product of an alliance between the Programme of University Initiatives for Peace and Coexistence (PIUPC in Spanish) of the Department of Social work at the National University of Colombia, the Swiss Development and Co-operation Agency (Cosude), the Special Administrative Unit for Managing the Restitution of Dispossessed Lands (UAEGRTD) and the Centre for Studies of Law, Justice and Society (Dejusticia).
Since the project began in 2014, the core idea has been to bring together approaches to Do No Harm and transitional justice, due to their capacity to foster a rigorous reading of the contexts in which land restitution policies are applied, in order to reflect on the challenges, dilemmas and possibilities which this brings up in terms of victims in this country, as well as building sustainable scenarios for peace. So as to continue the debate on this topic, this event seeks to recognise advances, reflections and proposals around constructing intricate ways of looking at this context, within land restitution processes and territorial rights, by way of local, national and international experiences.
