Environmental development policies and land restitution
General Description:
In this round-table we will seek to analyse the land restitution policy in the context of applying other policies in force. The legal, social and economic elements on which they are structured will be described, in general terms, and at the same time, the existing relationships and interactions with the land restitution policy in Colombia, and its consequences on guarantees for victims’ rights and peacebuilding.
In addition, we will look at the experience of other countries in terms of development policies and the relationships, complementarities and reflections which such experience provoked in relation to land restitution.
The lessons and experiences of speakers will enable us to better locate situations where it is possible to reconcile and bring together policy objectives and the rights of victims.

Questions:
- In your experience, how can implementing a policy of land restitution, in conjunction with other State policies (environmental, oil, mining, development regulation, etc.), strengthen local capacities and guarantee the rights of victims?
- What elements should be considered in order to make sure that the crossroads of different policies (environmental, oil, mining, development regulation, etc.) contributes to the sustainability of land restitution and peacebuilding? If possible, please give an example or case of where this crossroads has been or may be possible?
