Territorial rights, land restitution and peacebuilding
General Description:
We will look into guarantees for participation and respect for autonomy, and the traditional ways of organising particular to ethnic communities, in the process of restoring territorial rights and in formulating different comprehensive reparation mechanisms.
We will discuss the challenges of the restitution of ethno-territorial rights, with respect to the historical context of discrimination and exclusion which has prevailed in the history of the indigenous, Afro-Colombian and small-farmer communities and peoples.
At the same time, we will identify the challenges associated with applying this policy, both in terms of guaranteeing the rights of historically-affected communities and transforming conflicts present in their territories, and with building sustainable scenarios for peace.

Questions:
- What challenges does the restitution of territorial rights pose for achieving peace?
- What alternatives could be considered in cases of restitution where indigenous and/or Afro-Colombian and/or small-farmer communities’ territories converge, vis-à-vis conflict transformation?
