Spanish psychologist Mercedes Rodrigo was the founder, at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, of the first psychology program in the country and one of the firsts in Latin America. In her honour, the Colombian Association of Psychology Programs (ASCOFAPSI) created the Colombian Lecture Series on Psychology, which so far has been organized on seven occasions by universities in different cities. For this eighth edition, the Series aims to illustrate the integrative nature of psychology, collecting recent and exciting discoveries of different discipline areas from neuroscience and animal behavior, social psychology and cross-cultural psychology.

Recent attempts to integrate the discipline have limitations, but they provide new methodological strategies and theoretical developments. More importantly, the questions asked in the behavioral sciences, approached at different levels of explanation, acquire a richness that shows clearly the role of psychology as a bridge on science of mind and behavior.

This version of the Colombian Lecture Series on Psychology has a significant number of national and international speakers that will address the proposed topics, presenting their own research and proposing new directions and problems of study. In each session there will be a presentation by one or two guests and a moderator will pose a discussion of the topics addressed.

Support materials from the presentations and additional material will be handled by Moodle system at the Universidad Nacional server.

For this year, the Colombian Lecture Series on Psychology is jointly organized by the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad del Rosario, Universidad de los Andes, Universidad Santo Tomás and Universidad Externado de Colombia. The venue of the Series will be the Aula Magna 'Fray Domingo de Las Casas' at the Universidad Santo Tomás (Carrera 9 No. 51 - 11, Bogotá, Colombia, South America).
